Suggestions

Suggestions are the ready-made starter questions Edmund shows in the chat, so you have somewhere to begin when you're not sure what to ask.

Everyone / expert / admin

When you open a project’s chat, Edmund shows a short list of Suggestions — predefined starter questions you can tap instead of typing. They’re there for the moments when you know something’s wrong but don’t yet know how to phrase it. See Your first answer for the rest of getting from the machine to a cited reply.

Using suggestions

Tap any suggestion and Edmund sends it as your question, exactly as if you’d typed it. The answer comes back the same way as any other — drawn from that machine’s own knowledge, with the sources shown. From there you can keep typing, attach a photo, or follow up in your own words.

Suggestions are only a starting point. If none of them fit what you’re seeing, ignore them and describe the fault yourself. The clearer you are about the symptom, the machine state, and any fault code, the better the answer.

Tuning suggestions

Experts and administrators decide which suggestions technicians see. There are two levels: an organization-wide default, and a per-project override for machines that need their own.

Organization default

An administrator sets the shared suggestions in Organization settings → Suggestions. You can have up to 5 active at a time, and you drag them into the order you want them shown. These apply across every project that hasn’t set its own.

Project override

A single project can replace the organization default with its own set in Project settings → Activate suggestion, again up to 5. Use this when one line or machine has questions that don’t make sense everywhere else — a recurring alarm code, a tricky changeover, a known weak point.

Tip

The most useful suggestions mirror the questions your technicians already ask at that machine. Listen to what comes up on the floor and on the radio, then turn those into starter questions. Generic prompts get ignored; the real ones get tapped.

Whether suggestions appear at all can depend on how the project is configured. If you’ve set suggestions but they aren’t showing, check Feature flags.
