Roles & permissions
Who can do what in Edmund. This page mirrors the in-app permissions matrix, so you can check at a glance what your role allows.
EveryoneEdmund has three roles. Each one decides who can chat, who can curate the knowledge behind the answers, and who can change the organization’s setup. Everyone can use chat; the differences are in what you can manage and configure.
The three roles
- Administrator — full control of the organization. As well as everything an expert user can do, an administrator creates and deletes projects, connects data sources, manages users and teams, changes organization settings, and views analytics.
- Expert user — curates the knowledge and uses chat. An expert user manages documents and PLC programs and rates answers, but does not control the organization, its users, or its setup.
- User — uses chat and reads the documents behind the answers. A user does not change the knowledge or any settings.

Project visibility and teams
Your role also affects which projects you see. Administrators see every project in the organization. Expert users and users see unassigned projects and same-team projects, so team membership controls visibility for them. An administrator who manages teams decides which projects each person can reach.
The app enforces these permissions for you — a capability you don’t have simply won’t appear. This page is a reference for what to expect, not the place where access is granted. If you need a capability you don’t see, ask an administrator.
