PLC programs (alpha)
Upload a PLC program into a project so Edmund can index it and answer questions about its structure, tags, logic and alarms in plain language.
Expert / adminWhat it does today
A PLC program is a controller export you add to a project so Edmund can read it. Once uploaded, Edmund reads the program’s structure, tags, logic and alarms, so you can ask about them in plain language instead of opening the program in an engineering tool.
Open a project and go to PLC Programs — labelled alpha. The list shows each program’s Name, Status and Created at, and you can filter the list by status. A program that has finished processing shows Indexed, which means Edmund can search it and use it to answer questions in this project.
Upload a program
Open the project the program belongs to.
Go to PLC Programs (alpha) and choose Upload PLC Program.
Select the program export and confirm the upload. It appears in the list with its Name and Created at.
Wait for the Status to reach Indexed. From then on you can search and filter it, and ask Edmund about its tags, logic and alarms in this project.
PLC programs is an alpha feature. You can upload a program and index it, but there is no deep drill-in view of the program itself yet — you read it by asking Edmund, not by browsing its blocks on screen. The list, statuses and the questions you can ask may change as the feature develops.
For how indexing and citations work across everything Edmund reads, see Core concepts. To add manuals, schematics and other files to the same project, see Documents.
