Limits & formats
The current size limits, counts and supported file and database formats, in one place to check before you upload or connect something.
Everyone, on demandThis page lists the size caps, counts and formats Edmund accepts today. Use it to check a file before you upload it, or to confirm whether a database engine can be connected.
Sizes and counts
| Limit | Value |
|---|---|
| Organization logo | Up to 5 MB, PNG or JPEG |
| Maintenance journal image | Up to 10 MB |
| Active suggestions (organization-wide) | Up to 5 |
| Active suggestions (per-project override) | Up to 5 per project |
| Members | Limited by the Max members setting |
| Projects | Limited by the Max projects setting |
The member and project caps come from your organization’s Max members and Max projects settings, so the exact numbers vary by organization. Active suggestions are capped organization-wide, and a project can override that with its own cap of up to 5. See Feature flags for where these settings live and who can change them.
Supported formats
Documents
Edmund reads text-based files, typically PDF. A file Edmund can extract text from shows as Indexed; a scan or image with no readable text shows as No text and is not searchable until it carries real text. For what to upload and how indexing works, see Documents.
Maintenance journal images
These image formats are accepted for journal entries:
- jpg
- png
- jpeg
- gif
- bmp
- tiff / tif
Database engines
Edmund can connect to these engines as a data source:
- PostgreSQL
- Microsoft SQL Server
- Oracle
- InfluxDB
- Snowflake
Which engines appear when you connect depends on your organization’s feature flags. For how to connect one safely with a read-only user, see Data sources & SQL safety.
The member, project and suggestion caps are settings, not fixed product limits, so an administrator can raise or lower them. If you hit a cap, ask your administrator to check Feature flags.
